The starting point for a new design of the promenade is based on the respect for spatial and historical layers of the area. The promenade is designed as a connective element between the historical parts of the city. In the architectural sense, the connectivity is translated into physical layering of horizontal swaths from the lake towards the park and into balancing of different height levels. Architectural design is based on interpretation, since existing architecture already has its own architectural language.

Concept:

-LINE

Walls bridge the differences in height and define a clear border of slopes and embankments. Linear elements and structures also mount the promenade leading into the park and define its edge, therefore acting as an optical guide suggesting a circular path around the lake.

-PLANE

The promenade is a neutral bright surface that reflects light, contrasts the darker tones of its surrounding lawn and acts as a canvas for shadows cast by the trees. In terms of texture and color, it ties itself with sandy paths in the park. The promenade connects different ambients into a new whole.

-RHYTHM

The important points of articulation are the pivot points in which the promenade encircles the lake. Nodes – the junctions of routes – already act as local accents in some places,  while elsewhere the concept exploits its potential and creates spatial points of interest that
